Off To a Great Start!

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL
Ashton had his last day of school last Friday. He was both sad and excited!!! He loves his Marengo Valley, but will be attending school in Ashland in the fall. Jack will be in preschool and it would be too much to drive Ash and Jack opposite directions. He will make lots of new friends, and it will be a great experience.

Here he is with his teacher Mrs. Mika, he sure loved her!!

BASEBALL
Ashton started baseball!! Gooooooo HAWKS!!!!!! So far, he really likes it! He is pretty familiar with the game, both from watching his dad play ball and watching baseball with his dad. It is cancelled tonight due to the weather. So, he was very sad, but we can't wait til next week to see what is in store for the team . . . will they be batting or throwing?!?

GYMNASTICS

Jack started GYMNASTICS, and he loved it!!!!! He is one of two boys in his class, but that didn't bother him. He loved it; Ashton and TJ are very envious of him, they both want to try gymnastics. I told TJ he could next yr. Ashton's baseball conflicts, so there is no way he can.

LATEST OWIES/BUG BITES

It is not a great picture, but here is TJ's giant bug bite. They are hmmm . . . they are pretty gross! They start out like normal bites, the next day they swell and get pussy. They continue to either swell or stay swollen for a couple of days. I give him Benadryl and rub the itch stick on it. Hopefully the mosquitoes will stay away from his face this summer.

Play Date at the Park

We went to the WAKO (Women And Kids Outdoors) play date at the park. It was freezing cold, but AWESOME! We played in the rain, cold, wearing mittens and hats!!! It was a great start to our ever-unpredictable summer!!

Big Graduate!!!!

This has been a busy week. Ashton graduated from Kindergarten, woohooooo! His teacher said he was a joy to teach, and she is very sad to see him go. She said she tested his reading and he is at a third/fourth grade level and that his reading comprehension is phenomenal. She said his math is first/second grade. We are currently teaching him multiplication and he is really grasping it quickly.

Here he is (they made the tie-dye shirts at school for graduation day)

Ashton's other big news, is that he lost his front tooth. That isn't the big part, this was his fourth tooth. The big news is that this is the first tooth he lost that he didn't eat! We actually got to put it in the box and put it under his pillow. Yeah Ashton!!!!

I love the gap!!!

Woohooo to youuuuu!

Jack has been very busy being my big helper! We had so many errands to run this week, he was so well behaved! I can tell he is almost five (end of summer!!!). We had to take the car in to the shop, go see the specialist in Duluth, Ash's graduation, and the hospital for TJ and all the while he was so well behaved and sociable. Thanks Jack!!!!

Here he is at Daddy's ball game

Thomas is hangin in there. He has been struggling with his asthma since April. He had a Sinus CT Scan and a Chest X-Ray today. The specialist called in and said he has a sinus infection (second one in 3 mos) and pneumonia. So he will be on an antibiotic, in addition to another weeks worth of prednisone, his Intal, Pulmicort, MDI, and Zyrtec. Yikes, no wonder he is grumpy these days.
He was awesome for his appt. He didn't require sedation, which they were nervous he would. He didn't cry during any of the procedures. I was very proud of him! In the last two weeks he's been to his regular dr, the asthma specialist, and the hospital and through it all he has been a trooper!!! Hopefully he'll be back to normal in about two weeks!

Here he is at Daddy's game.

We are doing to American Lung Association Asthma Walk in October, in Milwaukee WI (at the zoo). We will be collecting donations, our goal is to raise $1000.00 for the ALA. We know we can do it!!! But we need your help, we need donations, team members (you don't have to walk to be a member, but we'd love it if you could), we need ideas on how to raise money. I am going to order bracelets and ribbons to sell to donate the proceeds. As well as selling bottled water at Ashton's ball games and soccer games (if I can). We may even have a bake sale!!!! This is so very important to our family. Lung disease is brutal and life long. It doesn't care your sex, financial status, it doesn't care about your dreams or goals. It doesn't just affect you, it affects your entire family. If there is a way to stop it, I want to be a part of a team that is trying. Asthma has effected our entire family! My kids are on 8 different medications to try and control the severity of symptoms. I am waiting to get that call that they have found a magic pill to cure this terrible disease, I don't know how soon that will happen.
