Ashton and I Were on TV (and Other Exciting News)

Ashton and I were asked by TMJ-4, The Morning Blend, to appear on the show to discuss asthma and the effects it has on families. We appeared with American Lung Association's Respiratory Coordinator. It was a great experience for the both of us.

Here is the link the our show. I hope you are able to view it, I know some have said the picture is choppy but you can hear us just fine.

Ashton smiling big for his BIG day!

Talking with the hosts about asthma . . . Ashton is watching himself in the camera.

MY FAVORITE PIC!!!

Having a serious conversation while Ashton is waving at the camera. I LOVE YOU SWEETIE!

Outside the building. Ashton was attempting to pick-up his bracelet while we we're trying to take a picture.

Thank You Dona for all the great pictures you took. Dona is the Media Coordinator for the ALA, and she made a great hostess for the morning.

Ashton met SILVER MEDAL WINNING OLYMPIC GYMNAST . . . . CHELLSIE MEMMEL. She was awesome. She won a silver for uneven bar routine, done with a BROKEN ANKLE. I was able to hold her medal, which was so cool. It was very big and heavy. Thanks Chellsie!!!

Junior Club Championship

Boys driving the golf cart.

Ashton teeing off.

Jack teeing off.

Both Ashton and Jackson compete in their last golf tournament The Junior Club Championship.

It was so great to watch Ashton and Jack golf together. There were only 3 in their age division (ages 5-8 did 5 holes, ages 9-12 did 9 holes, 13-17 golfed 18 holes). It was Ashton, Jackson, and their friend and golfing partner Dalton.

Ashton took first, Dalton second, and Jack third. All the boys will get a trophy with their names engraved on them.

Here is a picture of my 3 little boys.

Summer Fun (Picture Overload)

Well, school is 2 weeks away. I thought I should get out and take some pictures of the boys enjoying that last few weeks of summer.

Ashton looking around for his golf ball

Thomas is trying to put his ball on the tee (it's so cute to watch him golf)

Jack swinging in the baby seat, he still loves it and still fits in it!!!

Boys sitting (barely) for a picture.
All swinging!
Playing in my ridiculously small sandbox (don't get me started on that one).
Just love this picture of Jackson, it captures his baby-ness . . . I can't believe in 3 weeks he'll be 5!

Getty-up horsey!!!
So sweet in his little swing.

Loving summer!!!
Both the older boys will be starting school in the fall. Ashton will be in 1st grade, he is very excited. Jackson will be in preschool at OLL, and he is a little unsure. I think it is because he has never done the school thing, he has always been here with me. I want to go back into teaching, but haven't found daycare for TJ, so I am not sure what the plan is. I will sub, as long as I can find daycare at least 3 days a week. I don't even like the thought of TJ being in daycare!! I try not to think about it. I want him to be in a bigger center, I think they will be better able to handle his asthma. But, I worry about him being exposed to a lot of viruses, I think it will be a lose, lose situation.

Soccer Season has Arrived

Both of the boys started soccer and boy do they look cute. I love it!!!
Ashton plays on the U8 and Jack the U6. Ashton's team takes soccer very seriously, a lot of the kids have been playing for a while. Jackson's team they are all still learning, very basic skills and plays. This was Ashton's second practice so it was a full hour, and quite intensive.
Kicking in for a GOAL!!! Great job Ashton.

Jackson broke out into break dancing during his practice. He told his coach was there to dance, not play soccer. This was his first practice, so it was a shorter practice. He has his first game on Tuesday.

The only problem we foresee is that Ashton's asthma flared up the following day after practice. His peak flow readings have been very low, and he has had very persistent coughing. He has required his inhaler every 4 hours since Wed. We are hoping his peaks are up to at least 170, so that he can play. Or he may have to miss his first game. We don't know if it was the running, or the grass. Our guess is it is a combination of the two. We thought that giving him his inhaler would prevent this from happening we were wrong. There is a solution, we are just not sure what it is.
***UPDATE***
Ashton ended up in the clinic, the left side of his face was swollen. Apparently he has TMJ (something to do with your jaw being swollen) and is on soft foods, ibuprofen for swelling, and cold compresses for the next 5 days. Our dr took a listen to his lungs, and sure enough he is wheezing and was put on pred (his little bro is also flaring and was put on pred). He said Ashton could try to play in his first soccer game, as long as it isn't too humid and his coach is aware of his asthma flaring. So wish him luck, he wants to try it.
