I have been reading since a ridiculously young age, and loving it. Reading is one of my very favorite activities. A person can get utterly engrossed in a good book. As a parent, I am so eager to introduce my children to that world . . . the passion of reading and loving it.
Ashton started reading at 3.6 years old. His preschool teacher surprised me one day by having Ashton read me a book. I knew he knew many sight words, but listening to him read was . . . phenomenal. He received his first library card when he was six, and has enjoyed checking out a variety of books.
Jackson has been begging me to teach him to read. We are starting small, usually books that contain one to two words per page. He is doing great! He was downright desperate to get his own library card. So, since he has reached the magic age of 5 he was allowed! He received his own card, bag, and book. It was a very exciting day for him, and for me. We are going to continue practicing reading with Jack, and I can only hope he will fall in love with reading as much as I have.
My secret dream is for all my children to become little book worms!

I have this same dream! I also love to read and just checked out over 15 books from the library for myself (better get going since they are due in 3 weeks). I want my boys to love reading as well:)
That is great. I wish my boys like reading a little more than they do.
We just went this past Saturday to get my oldest (6) his library card. He was so excited and proud to put it in his wallet, right next to his Go Kart drivers license.
I seriously teared up. We plan on making library time a mommy and me activity every Saturday.
I'm so with you on hoping both my boys become avid readers.
